Ruth Asawa, Isao Ogura, Shigeru Namba, Garden of Remembrance, 2002. In collaboration with Isao Ogura and Shigeru Namba of the Professional Gardeners Federation of Northern California, Asawa designed the garden that contains ten boulders, symbolizing the ten internment camps that housed over 120,000 Japanese-American internees during World War II.
“Its waterfall symbolizes energy and renewal and celebrates the release of Japanese Americans from unjust confinement.”
