The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston assembled the first major exhibition on the college Asawa attended for three years. Leap Before You Look: Black Mountain College 1933 – 1957 is currently on view at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles through May 15. Admission is free.

Asawa has one long sculpture and five flat works in the show. Her husband Albert Lanier, whom she met while at Black Mountain, has three architectural renderings of a small house he and several students built.

Watch a video of the curators explaining why this exhibition is so relevant to students and artists today.

Leap Before You Look will travel to the Wexner Center For The Arts in Columbus, Ohio, Sept. 17, 2016–Jan. 1, 2017.
